The sole purpose for ASMR is to relax people, to create a soothing environment in which people can get tingles on the back of their head and/or spine. ASMR videos usually involve a variety of different sounds; whispering, nail tapping, scratching, brushing, etc.
I’ve been watching ASMR for the past few months, when I unexpectedly came across an ASMR video, while searching for 'Camerabag' in the YouTube search engine. I found a video from VioletsVoice called 'ASMR Camera Bag Sounds', which at first I thought it was kind of strange but then I realised it was moderately relaxing. I explained to my sister that I liked listening to people scratch bags & brush microphones. Much to my surprise it wasn't as weird as I thought, when she related and said she listened to similar videos to help her sleep.
The method of Binaural recording is absolutely fascinating to me. The effect of Binaural sound is created using a technique in which a dummy head, or prosthetic ears are outfitted with a microphone in each ear. I wouldn't say I was initially interested in the sound aspect of things, until I discovered ASMR. I love the way you can feel a sound, and feel as if you are in the room in which that sound is originated. I've managed to get my hands on my very own 3Dio Professional Binaural Microphone, which I'll be getting some recordings with on my next trip to Croatia.
Watch this space for my next blog on Binaural Sound with my new 3Dio!
